Island Life

Well, I know it has been awhile and I am sure I have more to say than I can remember but I thought I would spend some time and words to tell you about the lastest happenings in my new happy home!

Sorry for the pause, I had to go back and reread the last things that I posted a blog about from the Hollow and Fri Harb, looks to be around St. Patty’s day. Wow, I have been slacking. So, where to begin, how about with my move.

So I found me a place to live in Friday Harbor not to the mega center of town lol, walking distance I should say. It is a nice little apartment, I really love it and have had some fun with getting it all set up with stuff and decorating. Onyx loves to roam around that is for sure.
Pretty bare in this photo, but it is getting more and more stuff in it all the time.

Okay, now onto Hollow Happenings.
We have had many animals come and go: currently in our care we have a Cali Sea Lion, a Raven, 2 house finches (one adult - one nestling), a Canadian Goose, and a hatchling killdeer.
All the birds have normal rehab stories, hit window, caught by cat, abandoned… yadda yadda. The real story I am sure you are interested in is the Sea Lion. Well she is a beauty, named Virga, she is very active and quite interested in us. Her history of her coming to us is most likely Domoic Acid Toxicity. You can read more from our marine mammal Dr. Joe Gaydos’ press release. We are working on getting blood from her this week and also getting a release criteria set up for her release (probably down south).

Alright, moving on to the ubber fun stuff, there has been many of fun nights in Friday Harbor. Ranging from Herb’s Karaoke nights, Peppermill Martinis, and the Jager promotion (yeah!!).

Loads of fun pictures, and I kept them limited to not drag this out. I really don’t know how to explain everything besides being one kick ass time. I have really enjoyed myself on the Island since I moved there, I haven’t been that happy in years.
