Ketchup

It has been a long, long time since I have posted anything. I could blame it on leaving my computer in Seattle in March coming home from Philadelphia, but really I don’t think I still would have posted had I had my computer. I do have a lot to share then since my last posting, some animal photos, some trip photos, and just some enlightenment (not sure what that will be yet, but hopefully that will come once I hit that point).

The last few things I posted about were passed on memes and then about some dreams that were disturbing me and the last photos I shared were clear back from Thanksgiving.

So let’s start with some animal photos!!!

I have some photos of a few of the animals that have been in care, plus photos of our fawn release in December.

Background on the eagle: This eagle was my New Year’s Eve pick up… while everyone was home prepping for the Eve, I was working with the local police to catch this guy out of a steep ditch. He has a dislocated shoulder, so at least he didn’t want to fly away from me. He is still in at the center waiting to see if he can fly. The wing still pretty out of place, but we hope he can fly as he is.

Background on the Euro Rabbit: This rabbit came into the center right after Christmas; he was being attacked by an owl when the homeowner pulled into their driveway. Of course, this scared off the owl. Leaving this bunny with an eye injury, we treated with antibiotics and sent the little guy back out.

Red-tailed Hawk immature: This is/has been my most favorite animal at the center yet. Because he is incredibly gorgeous!!! He actually came in when I was home for thanksgiving after bouncing off of 2 cars! He is a little miracle. We released him at the beginning of January. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Travels In March I flew to Philadelphia, Cherry Hill, NJ for the NWRA Symposium. I spent A LOT of time in lectures and learning new things about the rehab community. Networking, finally getting to meet some of the people from PAWS in Lynwood and making some great new friends. I did get to a chance to spend one of my days there out playing in Philadelphia with my friend from this island Michael, who has moved to MD! It was fabulous; even though it was a complete downpour we still had loads of fun!!

A few weeks ago I got to go down to Sausalito, CA for some marine mammal training at The Marine Mammal Center! Man was that crazy. I got to spend 14 hours my first day at the center, because I came back that night to help feed and give subcutaneous fluids to elephant seal pups; that’s right I got to “play” with elie seals. I learned much more about pool systems, and got a good refresher on my harbor seals and regulations. In my off time I did a lot, and I mean a lot of hiking. The Mill Valley/Sausalito area is absolutely gorgeous with many National/State parks.

As for enlightenment I can offer, well…………. I am now adding another year under my belt (and it shows lol). And all I can say is man I am starting to feel old. There are struggles every day in life, and I know I am not the only one with the struggles. But I am constantly reminded on the money I spent for a college education, yet my job isn’t showing a great return on the “investment”. I still struggle with finding “love”, though I do have to look at the fact I live on an island with minimal choices, but some “playtime” would be nice. I also know that I use elliptic and quotes way too often. I still have a tendency to let friends walk all over me, basically letting them choose what we do and also leaving me hanging way to much. (I gotsta fix that!)
