forgotten update

We have received word of an owner of the black swan on Lopez. It was actually a main land volunteer who had heard from someone who saw it in the paper I knew of someone.. Yeah, one of those stories, but it actually was true.

Without too much detail it is a gentleman on Decatur Island whose two "inherited" black swan's went for a walk in the snow. He caught the second one before it reached the cliff face, but the first one (even though it is clipped) had enough gliding surface from the cliff face down to the water and then it probably paddled to Fisherman's Bay. He thought he had lost it forever. We are working on arrangements of getting it back to him soon.

This did sadden the WDF&W officer who actually found a black swan in Ferndale (just north of Bellingham) and we were talking about getting them together and coming up with a contingency plan of where they would go. So it looks like it may be a lone swan for him unless they get lucky and find the owner.
